Postgun

Use case

Send hundreds of certificates, each to the right person

You have a spreadsheet of attendees and a folder of certificate files, one per person. Postgun matches each row to its file by name and emails every attendee their own certificate through your Mailgun account, with no scripts and no mail merge add-ons.

How to do it

  1. 01

    Import the attendee list

Upload a CSV or Excel file. Pick the email column, and every other column becomes a merge tag, such as {{name}} or {{order}}.

  2. 02

    Upload the certificates

Upload the certificate files, or one ZIP with all of them. Files already named by ID or row number are fine.

  3. 03

    Set the filename pattern

Tell Postgun how files are named, for example certificate {{order}}.pdf. Optionally rename the attachment to {{name}}.pdf so it reads well in the inbox.

  4. 04

Write the email and send a test

Use {{name}} in the subject and body, send yourself a test, then start the campaign and watch delivery live.

Example

emailnameorderattached file
[email protected]Amira Haddad0412certificate 0412.pdf → sent as Amira Haddad.pdf
[email protected]Tomás Rivera0413certificate 0413.pdf → sent as Tomás Rivera.pdf

Filename pattern: certificate {{order}}.pdf, renamed to {{name}}.pdf

Questions

Does Postgun generate the certificates?
No. Generate them with any tool (Canva, PowerPoint, a script), export one file per person, and Postgun sends each one to the right recipient.
What if a file is missing?
That recipient is marked failed with "Attachment not found" and the rest of the campaign keeps sending. Send yourself a test first to catch naming mistakes before you start.
How many can I send?
As many as your Mailgun plan allows. Campaigns with per-recipient files send five emails at a time with automatic retries.
